Padded satin stitch is a combination of seed stitch and satin stitch. It's satin stitch with you've guessed it padding and it will give a bit more of a 3 dimensional look to your embroidery.
When stitching round edges or shapes I like to outline the object with backstitch too.
Again take your time with this stitch just like you would with regular satin stitch.
Step 1: First add the seed stitches to the centre of the object.
Step 2: Now add the backstitch to outline the circle.
Step 3: You are now going to stitch over both the seed stitch and the backstitch. Add a stitch across the centre of the circle, make sure you are stitching over the outer edge of the backstitch.
Finished padded satin stitch compared to satin stitch. See how it is raised and how the backstitch has given the edge a neater finish. The little bit of extra work really adds a nice finish to the embroidery.
